Pride Sweep In Weekend Double Header

The Pride sweep the Tampa Bay Fury in their first weekend double header of the season with a nail biting 132-128 victory on Saturday, and a commanding 122-104 victory on Sunday. “This is was a good weekend for the guys. We played a very talented Tampa team. Both teams came into the weekend undefeated, they are ranked #25 in the country and beating them back to back was no easy task.” said Coach Joshua.

Game 1 on Saturday came down to the wire. “Honestly, we struggled early. It was tough for us to find rhythm with a long 2 week layoff from our last game. We had to overcome a lot of obstacles and defensively, we needed to lock in. There was never a time I felt the we couldn’t pull off the win, we just needed to adjust and execute” said Coach Joshua. Coach Williams added “we made some key 4th quarter adjustments that were essential to our win”.

The Pride drove to Tampa early Sunday morning to face the Fury in game 2 of the weekend showdown. The Pride were clicking on all cylinders. “Although the guys were sore and tired from the night before, we were prepared and up to challenge. We had great conversations throughout our travel to Tampa, ensuring we covered all corners of the game plan” said Coach Joshua. The Pride led early and never looked back. 5 players ended with double-doubles.

The Pride were tested but answered to the call. “Through 4 games, I really believe this team is headed in the right direction. They are accepting and maximizing their roles individually and as a team” Coach Joshua explained. “The guys were so happy knowing the fans were able to watch them play Saturday night”, said Darrin Eakins, President of Basketball Operations. We are extremely lucky to have their support and can not wait until we are able to compete in front of them again” he continued.
